History
Built in the 18th century the Hotel
Roma is ancient aristocratic home which was completely
renovated in 1988. However, the piecè della resistance
of the Hotel Roma must surely be the stained
glass windows which are works of art made by
Tito and Galileo Chini
in 1920. Inside the church of Santa Maria Novella,
located directly in front of the hotel (NB S.M.Novella
also gives it's name to the main railway station in
Florence) contains some very famous Renaissance Paintings
including An Angel Appearing to Zacharias
by Domenico Ghirlandaio 1449 - 1494
in which the painter cheekily made a self
portrait of himself (third from left) - you
can view the painting in the Cappella Tornabuoni inside
Santa Maria Novella church
